Welcome to a Week in Norway

Britta Bergersen and Margrete Raaum, and the entire Knutepunkt committee would like to welcome you to a (short) week in Oslo.

If you believe that you are going to participate on AWIN but have not
heard from the organizers please contact the KP-committee as soon as
possible.

Program

The program and sign-ups are located at:
http://www.larpconference.org/event/2009/04/

We encourage you to sign up for the mini-larps, and especially Night of the Serpent even if you do not want to participate actively. It is fully possible to be there without taking an active part.

The book launch will be right after Serpent's night is over in the same place.

As for dinner at Collett's café (not a larp), we will book tables during Easter, and cannot guarantee any places to people who have not signed up, but is of course in no way mandatory.

Accommodation

The accommodations will mostly be in private homes, so to clear up a common misunderstanding: signing up for "party room" at KP does not mean you can party in people's homes unless you all agree to do so.

You have to be prepared to be stuffed in as we are many people this year, and some people may have to bring sleeping gear, this you will have to talk to your host about. The exact sleeping puzzle is done, you should have receives an e-mail about this, let us know if you haven’t.

The hosts will not provide food, but there are grocery stores all over the place (we've come a long way).

Some of the accommodations have cats, e-mails about this has gone out, and people allergic to cats should by now have sent us en e-mail. If not, now is the time.

http://tinyurl.com/weekin shows accommodation addresses, the mini-larp sites, and the dinner site. Notice there are also posted phone numbers, if no area code is included, it is Norwegian, +47, and shouldn’t be necessary to dial while in Norway.

For the people who will be leaving Monday afternoon or later: please report departure time if you haven't done so to the Week In staff already. We would like to treat you to lunch Monday and we need to have a head count.

We will provide maps over Oslo, in addition to the google map provided above. We hope to provide bus/tram tickets for everyone, but the funding is at this moment not totally confirmed.

Local customs

A couple of small things;

  • It is customary in most Norwegian homes to leave the shoes off in the house, leave them right inside the door (with all the other shoes there) unless otherwise told.
  • Our drainpipes are ok, but still cannot handle sanitary pads, small animals, bicycles, cars or bigger objects.
  • All public places (indoors) are smoke free, and most private homes too, please respect this.
